Caring for Silk Fabrics
Cleaning Silk Fabric
Silk is a natural, lustrous fabric prized for its beauty for thousands of years.
In Roman times, silk fabric was so desirable that traders would bring it from China to Europe across Asia along a route known as the Silk Road. In Europe people would attach pieces of silk fabric to their clothes, like jewelry, as it was more expensive than gold
Silk is one of the strongest natural fibers, surpassing the tensile strength of steel. It’s inherently flame retardant and the insulating properties make it suitable for both residential and contract applications. In addition, it has the luster, texture and sensual appeal unmatched by any other fiber.
CLEANING
Cleaning code "S"-Professional dry clean only. Reversing of cushions and pillows and frequent light dusting is recommended. Silk can absorb moisture but loses some of its strength. Therefore, it is best dry-cleaned.
